Ruchi’s top weight loss tips for 2025 [Tried & Tested!]

Forget the “just eat less and move more” advice. If that really worked, perhaps elephants would be the skinniest animals!
We both know life doesn’t work like that—especially when you’re balancing a job, managing the house, caring for others, and barely finding time for yourself. So here’s what actually works in the real world:
Prioritize protein at every meal

Protein isn’t just for gym buffs—I repeat protein isn’t just for gym buffs.
It helps build muscles, keeps you full longer, and stops those annoying cravings from sneaking in. In short, it gives your body the fuel it needs to stay strong and satisfied.
Good sources of protein? Try eggs, Greek yogurt, tofu, lentils, or lean meats. They’re quick, easy, and super nourishing!
Heal your gut, heal your body

Ever feel bloated for no reason, or get random cravings even after eating? That might be your gut calling for help. A healthy gut means better digestion, more energy, and even fewer mood swings. Yep, it’s all connected!
And if you’re a man reading this—improving your gut health might even help you understand your partner’s mood swings better. (A happy gut can mean a happier you and a happier relationship 😉)
Add gut-loving foods like yogurt, oats, bananas, and fermented goodies—like sauerkraut or even kimchi (a spicy Korean cabbage that’s super good for your belly). Start small and see how your body thanks you.
Intermittent fasting (but on your terms)

How many times have you heard that intermittent fasting is the secret to weight loss? 🙄
Probably a lot, right? But the truth is, you don’t need to force yourself into a rigid routine that doesn’t fit your life. Intermittent fasting can be amazing—but only when it works for you.
Start simple with a 12:12 (eat for 12 hours, fast for 12) or 14:10 window. No skipping meals, no starvation—just giving your body a break from constant snacking. And if some days are off? That’s okay too. It’s about flexibility, not perfection.
Strength train like you mean it

Building muscle isn’t about getting bulky—it’s about making you powerful. Because what’s the point of having a body that looks “fit” if it doesn’t feel strong or support you in everyday life? Carrying groceries, chasing after kids, lifting that stubborn suitcase—that’s where strength shows up.
And guess what? Muscle also boosts your metabolism, helps burn fat even while you’re Netflixing, and gives you that confident, head-held-high posture. So grab those dumbbells, resistance bands, or even water bottles... and train like you mean it. And honestly, feeling strong just feels so good.
Track progress beyond the scale

The number on the scale isn’t the only way to see progress—and it’s definitely not the most important. Because your body is changing in ways that go way beyond a number.
So take a moment to notice: Are your jeans a little looser? Do you have more energy during the day? Are you sleeping better?
These little wins are called non-scale victories, and they matter a lot. So don’t stress over the number. Focus on how you feel. That’s real progress.
Hydration = Secret weapon

Believe it or not, sometimes when you think you’re hungry... you’re actually just thirsty!
But wait—hydration doesn’t mean grabbing a sugary drink or your third coffee of the day. It means giving your body what it really needs: good ol’ water, or something refreshing like lemon water, herbal tea, or coconut water.
Drinking enough helps with energy, digestion, and even cuts down on those random snack cravings. Keep a water bottle near to you, and if plain water feels boring, add a slice of lemon, mint, or cucumber.
Sleep and stress: The hidden blockers

Now you might be thinking… “What do sleep and stress have to do with weight loss?”
A lot, actually. When you're low on sleep or feeling stressed all the time, your body goes into survival mode—and that means holding onto weight. Even if you're eating right and working out, stress can slow everything down.
That’s why rest and self-care aren’t optional—they’re part of your weight loss journey. So go ahead, take that nap, light a candle, or step away for a quiet moment.
Move more but make it fun

Being active doesn’t mean spending hours at the gym. There are so many fun ways to move your body without it feeling like a workout.
Think about everyday stuff: dancing while you cook, walking through the grocery store, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking your dog (or borrowing a friend’s-just make sure the dog knows you 😆), play with your kids, chasing after your kids (yes, that counts!), or stretching while you binge-watch Netflix. It’s about adding little bursts of movement into your day—wherever you can, however you can.
Even 5-10 minutes here and there adds up. And there is no pressure to do it perfectly. The overall goal is to move in a way that feels good and fits your life.
Accountability is key

Let’s be honest—staying consistent on your own is tough. That’s why having someone to check in with, cheer you on, and keep you motivated makes such a big difference. Whether it’s a friend, a group, or a coach, having support helps you stay on track, feel encouraged, and know you’re not alone.
And that’s where I come in! I’m Ruchi Chopra, a health & wellness coach based in Canada. I help women feel better in their bodies, boost their energy, and reach their health goals through simple, balanced, and holistic methods.
You don’t have to do this alone—I’ve got your back.
Bonus tip: Ditch dieting, embrace lifestyle

How many times have you created a diet plan for yourself?
And how many times did you actually stick to it?
Don’t worry, I know your answer. And to let you know you’re not alone—we’ve all been there. The truth is, most strict diets don’t work long-term. They feel like punishment. And you don’t need that.
What you do need is a way of eating and living that fits your life—your schedule, your mood, your energy levels. Something you can stick with, even on the busiest days.
This journey isn’t about being perfect. It’s about feeling good, building healthy habits, and taking care of you.
That’s all about weight loss tips! Now let’s see
